Question to all photographer

Well, since I'm so into photo manipulation and therefore am starting to really like taking pictures, I'm thinking of buying myself a new good digital camera, nothing hi end, but something good enough to work with!

Currently I have a Canon Powershot A40 2 mega pixel! LOL I know, it's a dinosaur, hence why I'm making this entry.

I'd like to buy a new one, but dunno what to get, I'm ready to spend about 250/300$ tops, it is for a pass time after all!

Any suggestions?
